EU MRV and IMO-DCS are developed in the context of reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG)/carbon dioxide emissions, and with the target to measure, and potentially reduce the CO2 emissions in the maritime industry, EU MRV and IMO-DCS schemes overlap in various areas.

Which notified body shall a ship owner/ship manager select?

Maritime stakeholders have to decide about their preferred certification partner according to EUMRV requirements.
EU-MRV and IMO-DCS are overlapping schemes. Synergies can be utilized by selecting one certification body that is likely to cover both schemes.

Flag states will be in charge of IMO-DCS.

It is recommendable to select an IACS classification society for both, EUMRV and IMO-DCS, in order to utilize expected synergies between EU MRV and IMO-DCS system. Accreditation of certification bodies without maritime classification background according to IMO-DCS is unlikely.
